Extension of MPL <> SYRUP Conversion

First of all, I skewed up missing the MPL <> SYRUP conversion deadline. I knew about the migration, I knew about the new token, SYRUP, BUT I wasn’t aware there is a deadline for migration.

Why there is a deadline for token migration? Is there any rationale for the deadline? I don’t see any in MIP-011 (mip-011-mpl-conversion-to-end-30th-of-april-2025/347).

These are the example of major token migrations I have seen in the past, all of the migrations do not implement a deadline.

  1. MKR <> SKY
  2. FTM <> S
  3. MATIC <> POL
  4. RBN <> AEVO

I have been a big supporter of Maple Finance since the beginning. However, somehow I missed the deadline, in many reasons like I expect Coinbase didn’t screw me and help me to convert, too many scam email and caused me missed Coinbase email reminder (with email subject that looks less urgent than most of the scam email i received), assume the conversion is forever… ya da ya da

Fine. I should suck it up because I should participate more in the community and should not be a passive investor nor diamond hand. But what disappoint me the community responds on those us…

and here are some of the 12.5% (dune.com/bellonoff/maple-to-syrup-migration) (who majority is skewed by Coinbase)

well, although I hope Maple team can do the right thing. But, I have no high hope. Just make a record here. Bye.

I hear yeah. I have invested in other tokens (like polygon, Fetch.Ai) that have done conversions, but don’t have deadlines that make you convert tokens or else you lose out. What I wonder is what will happen to the money we invested in Maple if it doesn’t get returned to us if we didn’t convert our tokens in time.

Me too long term holder here. Hoping the guys can sort it out.

Hi folks,
I’m very proud of being part of this community.

When I read that 11% of the supply not converted is not significant I’m shocked.
On my point of view, 11% not converted is a conversion process failure.

Feel like my bag contains stolen value at the moment and I don’t like this.

The team just made a proposal to correct the fact that something had gone wrong with the conversion process.
No matter of responsabilities, the fact is that we need to go forward proudly and not greedly.

What a beautifull signal is send by the team.
A respectfull team, listenning his community, able to identify problems and able to respond with a smart proposal.

I will vote for this proposal.
That’s it, the democracy!
Good job the team !

I too missed the deadline by seven days. For some reason, I did not think it was a concrete deadline, as in you lose all future chance of converting. Very odd way to do things. Now I hold 106 maple tokens on my Coinbase wallet. What am I even supposed to do with them. This is depressing.

Hi, unfortunately I am one of the MPL holders that didn’t convert. I know it is pretty much useless but I’m still gonna try to voice my pain. From what I can tell the SYRUP token began conversion around Aug 2024, to me less than a year since inception and setting a conversion deadline of just 4 months are not very considerate timelines, I don’t know this compares to other projects that also have done token migration.

I was pretty much unconnected, but some months ago I logged into my wallet because I had xMaple staked and I remember that I had complications in the unstaking process, I’m not sure if I was able to find any UI to unstake, but ended up unstaking manually by calling contracts directly from etherscan, so I consider myself a pretty capable user. In this process, I don’t recall any single time seeing something about a deadline for migration, which should have been a big red banner. I was aware that there was an ongoing migration, but, again, I couldn’t find the migration interface so I didn’t migrate at the end.

It just feels much more painful having held through the FTX-originated defaults, and painful and unlucky that I missed the deadline by a little over a week. The timeline of less than a year for migration and the fact that the governance polls (which again weren’t easy to find) had 21 and 28 votes, do not help. I used to try to be active in crypto, but got tired after seeing that everything just ended up decided by the team holders every time, which, I have to say, is very naive of me to believe shouldn’t be like that.

I know this sounds like whining, but imo there is truth in it and you shouldn’t be comfortable with setting less than a year for conversion. Finally, I know this can be modified, the conversion is enabled or disabled from a multisig Ethereum Transaction Hash: 0x8a174acc99... | Etherscan .

Same here…
Holder of the token for a while now and wasn’t aware of the migration even happening. Found out just a few days ago and was very disappointed and surprised.

Why would there be a hard deadline for such a thing? over 10% didn’t convert… It’s really frustrating and I really can’t understand the logic behind this. The fact that it was voted in with such a small number of votes doesn’t mean that the rights of other holders should be disregarded in this manner.

Please make this right

guys it seems we shouldn’t miss that window:
To ensure all MPL holders have a final opportunity to participate in the migration, Maple will reopen the conversion process for a final 48-hour window:

  • Opens: 10:00 AM ET, Monday 19 May 2025
  • Closes: 10:00 AM ET, Wednesday 21 May 2025

A vote will occur about the possible migration.
At the moment, no window, no migration, just supposition.
